Given the past and present controversy in the Premier regarding guests and the large number of forfeits this year is it time to think about a change in the guest rule for next season?

Maybe in the Premier some sort of restriction on the amount of times you can use the same player, or alternatively a limit on the amount of times you can use guests from the Premier?

For the lower divisions it can be quite hard to get players to guest especially the second division. My suggestion would be to allow players in the first division to guest for teams in the second. I dont think there is a massive difference in the quality of the divisions so I think this would work.

There is a difference but I dont think it is massive, I think this is shown by Hornets and D'ohNuts holding their own last year and the Forgers and the Hangovers holding their own this year.

Would certainly say the difference between the top of the 2nd and the bottom of the 1st is non existent. Same could probably be said about the bottom of the Premier and the top of the 1st.

Hope I am not upseting people here, just my own opinion!

I would say a max of 5 times for one team per season...anymore and thats clown shoes.

However, some Captains don't have the option at 4pm on game day......

Anyway, I thought this was being discussed at the captains meeting this year but guess its one of those subjects that people talk about but nothing can realistically change......

Whilst I agree that it is completely frustrating that a team might have to forfeit once in a while owing to lack of players (holidays, injuries, etc.) it is the responsibility of the team to ensure they have enough cover to ensure that this does not happen – the league does provide details in the captains portion of the forum with contacts for all divisions for people that can guest.

Personally I don’t think there should be a restriction on the number of times you play for any team, as long as they get enough players to ensure the game goes ahead.

If anyone wants the rules changed they should bring it up at the next captains meeting prior to the start of the new season and let the vote decide.

Well said Biff, final decisions should be made pre season at the captains meeting! But since this was raised last year and nothing came up at this years captains meeting, I thought those demons were laid to rest. Perhaps not!

Its not a bad thing to question, in an ideal world.....

However, players pull out last minute and there are few players that are willing to drop everything and come along to play, especially in wind and rain. Plenty who'll play if they have some notice but when is it that captains have that.

Secondly, this is a friendly league and there are friends that play on opposing teams which are, not surprisingly, willing to sub in to help out their pals. Should they (or the team) be penalised??

Thirdly, the guesting area of the forum is not very up-to-date and there are certaintly players on there that I go back to again and again as I have their details and know they are keen. There's plently of captains details that I dont know and so cant contact to ask for alternate players. Should I be penalised for that?

Sorry but you really shouldn't have gotten me started on this (lol!), fourthly, it is up to teams to get players together but have too many and people get disgruntled to only get half a game. Have too few and your left in the situation of struggling for players every week. Im afraid we fall into the latter group this year, to try and keep our players sweet but have now, mid season to run around and get a few new players, which itself can be difficult.

Just throwing this one out there to stir the pot but wonder how often the Morenuts sub for the Dohnuts
