Two games so far this week in the premier and another two guests.

Given all the problems last year are we going down the same route of this issue raising its ugly head?

Maybe the teams will regret not passing some sort of rule at the start of the season.

Discuss.

When this stops being a social league get back to me.

I agree with the Ginger One does not matter how big the squad you cannot force people to play

Its Social but happy to have the same discussion at the next Capt meeting and see if we can come up with a solution that keeps all happy - Bet we cannot find one baseballcap_yellow.gif

i'll add my voice to those of the Pie Eating one and Ginger.........

if the facility to bring in 2 guest players is taken away, then i can only see more games being forfeited - it doesn't matter how big your squad is you can never have enough cover for holidays, unexpected business trips etc etc etc... and, personally speaking, i'd rather play than take a forfeit

i gues the only thing that could be adressed would be the type of guests that can be imported............... am not convinced that a team should be able to field a GB player as a guest - not exactly a huge incentive to fill the diamond with your own players when these sorts of ringers are available!!

perhaps some sort of "buddy" system (this may have been suggested a few years back?) could be implemented with 1st division teams? with the bottom Prem team being paired with the top Div 1 team, 2nd bottom with 2nd top etc etc etc and Prem teams ONLY being allowed to call on their buddy team for reinforcements - i'm not sure if it would work but it would certainly help to stop teams "reinforcing" their lineups with ringers - I don't think that teams should be allowed to IMPROVE their lineups with guests (i know that there a numerous Div1 players that are better than their Prem counterparts, but by having set rules and limiting the choice of guests it would go some way to halting the cherry picking of guests that currently exists)

whatever the solution, (and it's not easy), teams need the flexibility to call on guests otherwise we'll start to see an awful lot of 7-0 scores on the results sheets

I agree with Powerbunt's suggestion. Another reason for using this system is that it enables other players from other divisions to get more games in. Surely that would help, for example, a first division player getting premier experience.

I would have to agree with Pieman & Ginger - this is a Social League - and when a team is faced with several call offs, then you have to try the names & addresses you have at hand

And, personally, I don't see anything wrong with replacing a missing player with one of equal ability - especially as the guest player is used at RF or C baseballcap_blue.gif
