.....end to last nights game 5 innings played....2 runs in it, ump calls game after being drizzled on for an hour and a bit - what's up with that?

Bad light was not an issue....
The weather was not an issue....
Was the scoreline an issue?

All I can say is that I have played in worse conditions...for longer - Tuesday night is an example this year.

Sounds like there is a conspiracy here Biff.

Tuesday's game did in fact go on for ages in the rain and the PD game was on for a good while after the Nuts Vandals game!

not a conspiricy, just felt it was not the right thing to do.

Sounds like a dark day in the ESL.

Could somebody shed some light on the sittuation?

I wasn't involved in the conversation as Neil spoke to Richard and Bruce but was advised of the intention to call the game after the fifth inning. At the top of the fifth Hangovers were behind but then took the lead, only for Storks to come back and get the win. Question: Would Richard have wanted the game to continue had Sporting Hangovers still had the lead at the bottom of the fifth? baseball_whistle.gif

It was certainly wet, windy and a little dark but I agree we have played in worse.....

I would have liked to see the game finish. Then neither side have grounds for bad feelings. I would say though that We played our two games for the Forgers in worse light and weather so I was surprised when it was even suggested. But I`m not an ump so I can`t say what is and what isn`t right.

If the Hangovers had been ahead at the end of the 5th I rather suspect that the Storks would currently be in the same position as Richard is so I think, personally, that the final 2 innings shouldbe played at some point, just to make sure the full game is played.

I learned in my early days never to argue with the umpire.......as they never change their mind

After 5 innings a game can be called if the weather is too bad or not enough light to complete the next inning as it was taking 20mins per inning i doubt another would have been complete, i did speak to both teams representatives to say this would be the last inning who agreed at the time!! There may have been two runs differance but the home team where still batting when ball game was called as they took the go ahead runs... so the question is how many more would they have scored for you to chase and would you have had time to get runs up then get the three home team outs?? Answer -In my opinion (THE ONE THAT COUNTS) Not enough time due to failing light.

Very tough call to make but there is always going to be a loser.

If the game was called in this scenario should there not have only been a difference of one in the score?
